Prevent diseases, diagnose and manage the root of a tooth
Endodontics
Endodontics is the prevention, diagnosis and management of diseases of the tooth pulp and the tissues surrounding the root of a tooth.
Root Canal Treatment
Our dentist may recommend root canal treatment if there is inflammation or infection inside one of your teeth. Root canal treatment involves removing the infected dental pulp of a tooth, cleaning the tooth and placing a filling to prevent further damage or infection. This treatment can save your tooth from having to be extracted.
You may need root canal treatment for a number of reasons, including:
● Severe tooth decay;
● Repeated dental treatment on the tooth;
● A cracked tooth;
● A broken crown;
● Cracked or loose fillings;
● Gum disease;
● An injury, such as a blow to your mouth.
Our dentist will examine you and ask about your symptoms and medical history. An X-ray of your tooth will be taken to possess in-depth examination of your tooth condition.
Although some root canal treatments can be completed within one appointment, most are done over two or more sessions. Root canal treatment is usually done under local anaesthetic. This completely blocks pain from your tooth and jaw area, and you will stay awake during the procedure.
